The following was sent to me by a Very Nanchang member who asked me to post it on their behalf as they would like to remain anonymous...

"JD'S BAR. I still call it Jd's bar; even though it is more like a pub. I've been going to Jd's for more than 4 years now. I like it for many reasons.... One of which is because it is more of a quiet relaxing pub with an actual sit down 'bar/stool' setting rather than the stand up all night long, "head-thumping" dance clubs you find throughout Nanchang. Don't get me wrong, sometimes it's fun to go dancing, but this is a place where you can actually have a really good conversation with the other patrons while you get to know them. Of course you will usually run into friends that you've known for some time, while you toss-back a few cold ones. The drink section is good with an assortment of local and imported COLD beers. Jd's also has a good selection of liquor with people who DO know how to mix a drink. One of the most known drinks in Nanchang is Jd's ADMF (Adios Mother F**ker); this is a fruity green concotion with plenty of alcohol. Both guys and girls love this drink, and if you are able to drink more than 5 of them you won't have to pay for each one after your 5th. Not a bad deal if you're a drinker!!! Once you become a "regular" you will start to learn about the special promotions and activities Jd's offers - from the FREE German food nights to the Texas Hold-em poker tournaments. There's always something new on the horizon at JD's. Finally..... If there is a song you would like to hear? Just tell them the name or artist and they will most likely have it in their system. I think it is one of the most enjoyable bars in Nanchang. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have."

I wonder if there had any real night club in Nanchang. I mean not just people sit there chilling and drinking. I wish to see a fancy DJ play some house music or dubstep like Avicii, Tieso, or Skrillex, and people could dance together for fun. I'm not asking for any small bar or cater only popular arong local people.

how can I get these addresses in hanzi (Chinese characters). taxi drivers aren't going to be able to read the pinyin. and plugging the pinyin address into google map or baidu map yields no results. even passing the pinyin address through a translator to get Chinese characters generates something that google and baidu maps can no use. I would really like to check some of these places out but... how... without address written in hanzi (Chinese characters).

well, thanks for more pinyin addresses in your own written post. I think pinyin address are about as useful as having only the title of a novel when you are ready for a good read. no matter how many times you read that title it's never going to give you the story.

I actually did do a search in google for every place in that list (before you suggested it). and only came up with one useful address. I see you got more. you must have used better search terms. what really got me is that even places like JD that have their own website still don't post their address in Chinese. they just provide a photo of their location on a map, which works but it is bulky and cumbersome. I don't really want to keep a large collection of photos on my phone to try to sort through when a taxi is waiting for me to give them an address. not a time efficient way to do it.

thank you for all the address you did provide. but again, they are all in photos now. I do have working ocr software that can let me pick those address out and turn them back into editable text. so that I could put them into a nice, fast, efficient address book on my phone. but that process is extremely time consuming.

when you consider that hanzi (Chinese characters) are what work best (or perhaps the only thing that will work) when presenting an address to a taxi driver, when searching in mapping software or when asking strangers on the street for directions, I really don't understand why that very useful information is not already provided. I really don't want to do what is suggested on the JD website. which is to call the JD bar and hand the phone to the taxi driver to explain the address. in a situation where there was not chance to be prepared before hand I will do that. but if I can be repaired, I don't want to do that kind of thing at all.

well. bottom line. I actually don't drink. it has been more than ten years since I last set foot into a bar, club, pub or whatever. I thought I would try something new here, but without address in Chinese, or friends to initially take me there, it just isn't worth the effort.

take care Stu.

Hi, we are currently redesigning the site and will be providing much more upto date and complete information. Nanchang has grown so much since we began and it has been difficult to keep up with the pace of change here. Sorry that the info isn't complete but we are working on it and hope to have the new site running sometime this autumn. In the meantime please you can add me on wechat via nanchandy (my wechat user name) and I can more easily provide addresses that way.
Thanks for understanding
